transition.

In an ongoing effort to simplify my life, spend less money, have less stuff, and make my home a refuge for my family in this crazy world, I am switching back to my Blogger blog. Here's the link:

I hope to see you there...

two girls, four shoe sizes.

Mom to be Mothers Day Card

I usually try to post a link when I have something up at the Fiskars website, but I completely missed linking this one! It's a Mother's Day card for an expecting mother.

I used Prism Simply Smooth cardstock and Memento Ink in Tuxedo Black, Copic Markers, and Heidi Grace clear stamps. The instructions and other photos are at the Fiskars website, along with another project for each day of May!

Jolie's birthday has been very fun! The girls got new pointe shoes today and both of them have two differently sized feet - not a big deal with flip-flops or even tennis shoes (Converse is about all they wear these days...), but with pointe shoes, having one foot bigger than the other is a problem! I had to buy an extra pair of bigger toe pads ($25.50) for Jolie to even out her shoes and then when Darby had the same problem, we used the other extra toe pad for her. And extra pair of toe pads is much cheaper than having to buy two pairs of pointe shoes (at $70.00 a pair) for each girl just to have the correct fit for each foot... So I guess between the two girls, they have FOUR different shoe sizes!

Then we went to the Cheesecake Factory. Um, YUM.

I didn't take any pictures of the day's fun because I left my gigantic "professional-size" memory card at home. (And then I almost left my camera at the Cheesecake Factory! I guess that would have been a decent excuse to make another trip to The Woodlands for more cheesecake!)

Birthday presents and a treasure hunt (planned by Darby and the boys for Jolie) tonight, followed by popcorn and Paul Blartt, Mall Cop. (I probably spelled that wrong...)

Have a lovely evening!

scrappy summer stuff?

It's time for summer school! Not academic summer school...crafty, fun, creative summer school! From May 21 - September 1, Fiskars will be having Summer School in session with great projects from the Fiskars design team girls as well as some guest designers from the craft industry!

The most recent project is from Susan Weinroth...I just love what she did with cardstock, thread, and fabric scraps! She's amazing.

My own Summer School lesson will be up on June 4th...and to celebrate, I'm going to be giving some of my favorite scrappy stuff away, so check back with me on Thursday!

it's a party and a giveaway!

Blog party logo

***Cathy K is the winner!!!!****

I have been working on some fun stuff with a kit from Green Tangerines! They are having a huge two-month-long blog party with lots of creative hosts and over $1000 in prize giveaways!

So, it's my turn to be the hostess and I have some cards I made to share:

Kiss hug card

I am a huge fan of mixing colors and patterns, so I dove right in with mixing several of the yummy patterned papers from the kit to make this Kiss Hug card. One of my favorite things in the kit was this strip of polka-dotted fabric...I used it more than once!

Hugs card

I love this little October Afternoon monster...he looks like my youngest does when he wants to be picked up, which is what inspired this "hugs" card. And I used that cool fabric again...

Thanks so much card

I used my Fiskars Scalloped XL Seal of Approval, Large Mint Condition, and Medium Round 'n Round  punches to make these flowers. The kit had a package of blue gems from Kaiser that I used to bling them up.

You rock card

Here's another mixed-papers-lots-of-patterns card where I used the cool clock transparency and the custom-made circle embellishment that was in the kit. I added a kraft circle (Fiskars circle cutter) between the two pieces and used some more of the blue gems (I still have a bunch of those blue gems left over and I used a ton of them!). I don't know if you can tell, but I cut down some of the foam Thickers alphas to make the word "rock" because I wanted it to be a little smaller than the original alpha size. The "o" is the top part of a "g" and the "c" is the original "c" turned on its side and cut. The "r" was left alone and the "k" was just shortened on every side.

There's still enough product in this kit to make at least 193 (rough estimate) more cards (or some layouts! or a mini book!) and now I get to GIVE A KIT AWAY! Between now and 5pm PST (that's 7pm Texas time, or figure out your own time zone's deadline...) on Thursday, May 21, leave a comment and I will randomly choose a winner who will receive an awseome Green Tangerines kit with more than $50 worth of scrappy greatness in it! I'll post the winner's name tomorrow night, so check back.

As far as leaving a comment goes...just say "hi" OR tell me what your family's favorite movie to watch together is (we are looking to expand our movie choices around here!).

OH, and I almost forgot! If you visit the Green Tangerines blog, you'll have another chance to win a free kit!

So, to re-cap:

1. Leave a comment HERE to for a chance to win a free kit

2. Leave a comment at Green Tangerines for a second chance to win a free kit
